In 2004, I established a fee-only® firm, Hoctor Financial Group, LLC, and created the Engaged Management Method™. The Engaged Management Method™ integrates financial planning with investment management. I believe if I manage assets for a family, I must engage them on all areas of financial planning: their personal background and goals, overall net worth, cash flow and tax planning, retirement planning, corporate benefits, and risk management which includes insurance and estate planning.

Our process begins with a lengthy conversation about your family, your background, career, home and life plans. I will collect statements for any investment accounts, policies, company benefits, and any of your family's financial tracking spreadsheets that you wish to share. We will complete my Portfolio Behavior Analysis™, which prompts the necessary discourse to determine your investment expectations and the range of returns consistent with your level of comfort.

We establish a written document called Your Method™. At its base, this includes a statement of net worth, your investment strategy, and a section on risk management which discusses portfolio risk, insurance, and estate planning. I will advise if further financial planning is needed, such as retirement projections, in depth cash flow analysis or tax planning. Depending on the size of your managed accounts, these services may be included, or there can be a separate financial planning charge. At its base, this includes a statement of net worth, an investment strategy, a tax strategy, and a section on risk management: which addresses portfolio risk, insurance, and estate planning issues.

Annually, we review this written document, expanding the scope of analysis of your overall financial situation. Even if I am not directly managing assets, such as a 401k plan, I am happy to advise you on your contributions and allocation decisions. We want an integrated approach to your total financial picture. Quarterly, you will receive updates, primarily discussing your managed accounts, however I will prompt you to care for any other financial concerns in Your Method™, such as making a Roth IRA contribution, for example.
